The grass is 11 centimeters tall. The water is at 6 centimeters. Grass is still a vibrant green. Water levels have not changed. Seeds have began to scatter around the biome.

Grass has grown to 16.5 centimeters, The water is at 5 centimeters. Grass is still a vibrant green.

The grass has grown to about 13 centimeters. It has also become a more vibrant shade of green. The aquatic level seems the same.

We’re already seeing some progress in our bottle biomes. My grass has grown to about 4 centimeters and the water levels are sitting at 9 centimeters.

Today in class we planned a city around a pond that we pretended had endangered species in it our group thought we did pretty well, we planned out the parks around the pond to protect it, and we distanced the the facilities that were high in pollution away from or downstream from the pond. We failed to realize that all water ends up going to the watershed though, and misplaced the bleach plant. This would’ve caused all waste to have flown in the pond, killing everything. Otherwise we did pretty good. The farm was far away from the river, thus reducing pollution in the river by pesticides, and the houses were located near parks, thus increasing housing cost. But as far as the whole project goes, we failed.

Today we set up our bottle biome. This allows us to observe an ecosystem grow. We built it by cutting 2 bottles, one at the top one at the bottom, and put the top end top-down in the bottom bottle. We then sealed it with the bottom we cut out. We fed a string through the cap into a pool of water so that it will water the soil through cohesion and adhesion. We sprinkled seeds over the soil and we will watch them grow.

Today we picked which fish we will put in the tank. I put down the angelfish and the orange dwarf crawfish, but unfortunately they did not have enough votes. We ended up with a total of 4 fish. I would have liked to have more, but it is said to have 1 inch of fish for each gallon of water in your tank, and we have ten. We settled on the Molly, Neon Tetra, and 2 Danios. It’s a good assortment, they all look good, but i just wish we could have more.
We tested our first sample of water on Friday. It went pretty well, the directions were straight forward and easy to follow. I do have to say that it was a little nerve racking to work with the chemicals. It was really fascinating to me how we used chemicals to test for chemicals in the water. I look forward to what else we will do in the future!
